I made it! Starting today, I'll be working from Mozilla Headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Mozilla HQ

If you haven't ran into me yet, feel free to step by and say hi. I was very happy to get such a warm welcome today, and I actually found it quite fun to be introduced as one of the "new hires" in today's all-hands meeting. :)

On occasion, people claim I blog about too much geekery, so here you go with some dog content:

Yup, that's Lizzy, playing with her brand-new rubber chicken. She picked it herself at the store and oh-so-appropriately, it is a Bavarian chicken sporting Lederhosen.

Given her usual aversion to having photos taken of her, I was impressed that I got a set of four pictures before she bailed.

Our dog has started her career as a famous artist just yesterday. She's into sculptures.

Sadly, she used my wife's glasses for a raw material:

Glasses, after Lizzy got to them

If you are an American expat, or something along those lines, and are in the mood for some Christmas music, you might have already taken a look at "iTunes Radio", and had a hard time to find any, because even the ones carrying Christmas in their name don't quite cut it...

A good trick is to go for the Adult Contemporary section:

iTunes Radio

... and select a soft rock station, such as "Soft Rock from St. Louis", which is what we listened to today. These stations have a tendency to switch to Christmas music during the season, and should serve all your Christmas music needs, even if there's no way you can receive it on your local radio tuner.

Have fun, and happy holidays.

It's been awhile since I last had to announce planned maintenance here, so here we go:

My current domain service provider closes down its consumer services at the end of the year, prompting me to transfer all the domains that I own (including fredericiana.com) to a different service provider. I have chosen domainfactory, a well-established player in the market that I read good reviews about.

Please bear with me while the transfer is in progress and the name servers are being switched over. It should soon be smooth sailing again. But, if problems persist, as always, just shoot me an email.

Thanks!

Update: I am glad to report my domains have all been transferred properly and everything should be back to normal now.

Lots has happened since the last time I posted -- I got married, for example. Once the professional photographer gets back to us with the pictures, I might even share some ;)

Today, however, I am able to introduce someone else to you, dear readers: Meet Lizzy!

Lizzy

Lizzy is a mixed breed, part (Miniature) Schnauzer, part unknown. The young lady is about 1 year and 3 months old, and Tara and I got her from an animal protection association, where she was dropped off by a family that suddenly decided they didn't want a dog anymore... She is very well behaved, hardly ever barks, and after a few moments of shyness, loves just about anyone she meets.

Tara and I are very happy to have adopted her and are gladly sharing our apartment now :)

Just recently, my fiancée Tara joined the blogging community with her first own blog called "Domaine de Tara".

Domaine de Tara

She started off with a nice little article on the hunt for American-style brown sugar in Germany. It also includes a yummy recipe for baking Oatmeal Walnut Chocolate Chunk Cookies which -- in spite of the sugar-related difficulties -- turned out more than delicious.

Her future posts are likely going to be about food (both her passion and profession) and German strangeness she's just bound to stumble across every once in awhile... :)

Feel free to visit her blog, say hello, and maybe even subscribe to the RSS feed. Have fun!

The photo is from a trip we took to Provence, where a winery coincidentally carries my fiancée's name.

Today, Mozilla Corporation moved into new headquarters, across town, in Mountain View, California. The new place, which I have only seen as a building site so far, is bound to be awesome, judging by the photos that are slowly showing up on the web.

These and more photos are available on Deb Richardson's flickr feed (thanks, Deb!):

I can't wait to go visit!

Update: There are more photos of the new Mozilla office on osunick's flickr page.

For our upcoming honeymoon, I am currently reserving a number of hotel rooms on the beautiful island of Corsica.

Intriguingly, so far, under the emails two of these hotels sent me, I found a sentence like the following, asking you not to print out the email:

Afin de contribuer au respect de l'environnement, merci de n'imprimer ce courriel que si nécessaire - please consider the environment before printing this e-mail.

I wonder if this is a "Corse thing", or if it's just a coincidence. Pretty cool, nonetheless.

Google Calendar has a new feature that many international Mozillians may like: It can now display more than one time zone at a time. In my case, lining up the Central European and Pacific time zones next to each other comes in quite handy:

Google Calendar: Time Zones

Of course, when entering a new event, it does not seem to allow selecting the time zone this refers to quite yet, let's hope that'll be fixed in a future iteration.
