Time for some Sunday carpentry: Months ago, we bought this used, solid oak dining set, but it was a tiny bit wobbly due to a botched up repair job on the frame. With a little help from our friendly neighborhood home improvement store, it was returned to its former glory. Wobbliness defeated!
Day 155 - Want.
Day 154 - Play-doh
At work, I have a lot to do with a project called playdoh (if you care: A web application template based on Django!). This has absolutely nothing to do with modeling clay for children, but today I got a hold of a tub anyway. If kids visit, I'll be all set ;)
Day 153 - Out-of-the-Office Llamas
I would like to nominate this as the coolest out-of-the-office note I've seen so far :)
Today's useful fact comes once again from Wikipedia, that helpfully suggests not to confuse Llama with Lama. Thanks! (To further confuse you: In German, the animal is spelled with a single L, and therefore the two terms coincide. Wah!)
Day 152 - Timeless
Last weekend, after right about three years, my trusty timepiece gave up. Time to get a new battery! (Of course my first attempt promptly failed since I foolishly assumed I'd get a new battery at any jewelery counter)...
On the upside, until then it still shows the right time, twice a day.
Day 151 - Decanter
Here's a little trick for drying bottles that I found out also works fairly well with our decanter: Dry it as well as you can, then roll up a paper towel and stick it into the bottle/decanter, making sure not to touch the bottom. The water will evaporate and be soaked up by the paper towel within a few hours.
Day 150 - Cela est un canard!
Luckily, yesterday's image was of purely illustrative nature and after careful consideration (om nom nom), I can confirm that this was, in fact, a duck.
Day 149 - Ceci n'est pas un canard
If it doesn't look like a duck, doesn't swim like a duck, and doesn't quack like a duck, then it probably isn't a duck.
Day 148 - Door Knob Self-Portrait
Today I noticed that our door knobs are not only randomly reflective but also shiny enough to provide a lot of detail. Time for a photo! As you can see (even better in the enlarged version), our dog decided to have lunch at the same time, so now she's on the Internet once again. That's what she gets for walking into the frame!
Day 147 - Volkswagen Type 2
This is a Volkswagen Type 2, 1st generation, a pickup no less, that we saw in San Jose today. Reminds me of the Bug I saw a while ago, but unlike that one, these light trucks were apparently not manufactured after 1967 anymore, so are increasingly rare. Very cool car!
