If you twist my arm…
With my discount card for young people from the French train system, sometimes buying train tickets leads to strange results: This time, because second class tickets were almost sold out (and I was unable to get anything more than a 25% rebate), first class tickets actually turned out to be cheaper:

So I will soon be able to give the first class seats in the latest-generation French TGV trains a shot. If you twist my arm, I guess I can resort to this kind of traveling
This will of course only happen if they figure out their little major strike problem soon over there. We’ll see.

Nice. Travelling first class isn’t that bad… could be worse, right?
What does the second icon from the left mean? Mini-bar next to your seat? Cocktails being served by attractive train stewardesses?

I believe that what you have done there is fairly common in Germany as well. Deutsche Bahn has strong rebates for advance booking and, if I understand correctly, when they are sold out for second class, it is sometimes cheaper to book first class at a rebate than to pay full price for second.
First class just isn’t what it used to be, with all those advance-booked smart spenders around.

Haha, martin, you’re probably right. They will find out immediately that I am not one of them when they don’t see a golden Rolex watch on my arm
