Alexander: Very interesting, I did not know other European countries had a similar election system.

Kai: The BayernPartei, by the way, got a whopping 8 votes (or 0.05 percent) in my entire city. A minute ago, I realized these must be voters who finally want Bayern München to go away and leave the Bundesliga to other soccer clubs

It’s not as uncommon as you may think. We have the exact same system in Norway.

Thank goodness I just had to vote for the European parliament mayor in of my home town. (just 2 ‘x’)
The ballot for the European parliament was still pretty impressive. 31 parties and a total length of 98,3cm (a little more than 3 ft an 3 inch).
I almost voted for the BayernPartei. I guess I’ll have to wait another 5 years to get the next chance to vote for them. maybe it was even my last chance if they succeed in their goal to seperate Bavaria from the Rest of Germany and become independent.

Du hast so viele Stimmen wie Sitze zu verteilen sind.
Du kannst ein Listenkreuz setzen (zum Auffangen für nicht verteilte Stimmen), aber auch einzelnen Kandidaten 0 (durch Streichen des Namens), 1, 2 oder 3 (durch Eintragen der entsprechenden Zahl daneben) Stimmen geben. Die Abgabe von 2 oder 3 Stimmen auf einen Kandidaten nennt man Kumulieren.

Du kannst Deine Stimmen auch auf Kandidaten verschiedener Parteien (Listen) verteilen. Das nennt man Panaschieren.

Achtung, nicht zu viele Stimmen abgeben, sonst ist der ganze Wahlzettel ungültig.
