Same mouse and keyboard issues here on Mac Pro running 10.5.8.
I’ll install the update today but I managed to revive peripherals with unplugging and re-plugging usb.
Hm.

I'm having a similar problem, but I think it could be linked to Firefox in some way. When my keyboard locks up, my keys stop working and make a sound that I interpret as "you can't do that". My trackpad works fine and not all my keys make the sound when pressed (i.e. control, command, etc.); it's primarily the letter keys that make a sound, but none of the keys work.

Firefox seems to freeze when I'm having this issue, but this could be coincidental since I use Firefox a lot. I always have to restart my computer to fix the problem, but I've never tried to "wait it out". I'll give that a shot next time.

Also, I upgraded to Snow Leopard and I don't remember this being an issue prior the upgrade. I've actually noticed some new bugginess with programs that I installed prior to Snow Leopard. Adium and FireFox didn't seem to handle the upgrade completely smoothly.

I'm having this problem on several of our 2007 macbooks at my school -- just started within the past month -- and we're running Tiger - so I think it must not be software related. I've read there's a possible problem with a cable connecting the keyboard to something -- anyone else heard that? very frustrating for the kids. sometimes if they keep pushing the power button to shut down, then restart, the keyboard again becomes responsive -- sometimes they have to do this 10 times!

Hmm. I did download and install this update. And my keyboard never freezes on me *cross fingers*

But.. I'm just wondering about one more thing about the keyboard, and hoping you might know about it.
When I change to another window and try typing something, it (most of the time) leaves out the 1st letter that I type. Is this what is called "unresponsive"? I'm not sure if this is actually a problem because of the Leopard or because of the hardware.

How does one install the update when the keyboard is unresponsive? I am unable to enter the admin password to start the update. My keyboard does NOT come back after a reboot and I have tried the PRAM reset etc. I have a bootcamp partition on the machine and I can boot into that and run Vista just fine - but not Leopard. I have been running Leopard for awhile now and this just happened today. Any suggestions anyone?
