Uranium Ore on Amazon

Apparently, you can (legally) buy cans of Uranium Ore on Amazon.

Uranium Ore
Still looking for a Christmas Present?

Is it just me, or is that really a little strange to buy something like this off the internet? But then again, the same seller also offers Rosswell soil samples, so what can you expect.

One of the customer reviews with two out of five stars is really funny:

I bought a can of this about 4.5 billion years ago, give or take a few million years, but when I went to use it today I noticed only half of it was still in the can. I swear I put the lid on tight. I’d give it more stars if it came in a better package.

Oh, sweet science! :)

  1. Only 205 counts per minute… that’s not enough for having fun with it. And hey! Its only ore, you can find this stuff at every street corner of the black forest…

  2. Christian R. – It’s 1,205 cpm ;)

  3. Take a drive down highway 141 in southwest Colorado and you will see a large number of abandoned mines in the “purple” layers visible on the canyon walls above. In these mines, you can pick high grade Uranium ore up off the floor (watch out for old blasting caps). Back in the 50’s, this is where most of the “yellowcake” for US nuclear programs was mined and processed before shipment to Oak Ridge TN to be processed into weapons grade material. Uranium ore is very common in CO, UT, and NM. You shouldn’t find it strange that someone is selling it. The only reason they can sell it, is because people are not aware of how common it is.

  4. sweet!!!!
