Einer der klassischsten Filmklassiker, die jemals gedreht wurden, ist der famose, ja brillante Film the Blues Brothers.

Was schon in der deutschen Übersetzung toll ist, ist sicher in der Originalfassung noch viel besser. Und so genieße ich gerade eine Kollektion einiger der feinsten Musiker die es je gab (Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker, …).

Dumm nur, dass der Film der amerikanischen Sexualparanoia-Schere zum Opfer gefallen ist: Gleich am Anfang hätte es eigentlich eine kleine Szene geben müssen, in der ein Gefängnisangestellter Jake Blues seine Habseligkeiten zurückgibt und dabei sagt:

One Timex digital watch, broken.

One unused prophylactic.

One soiled.

(… ein unbenutztes Präservativ. — Ein benutztes.)

Wie man eine solche Szene aus einem Film nach 8 Uhr abends schneiden kann, wird mir wohl nie klar werden.
